The International Air Transport Association (IATA), in collaboration with the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) and Airports Council International (ACI), has announced a new joint initiative aimed at enhancing runway safety.

This operational safety programme is designed to address and reduce runway incursions by promoting improved safety practices among airlines, air navigation service providers (ANSPs), and airports worldwide.

The collaboration highlights the commitment of these leading aviation organizations to work together to improve operational safety standards and mitigate runway-related risks.

Through this initiative, IATA, CANSO, and ACI seek to foster greater cooperation and the sharing of best practices within the aviation industry to ensure safer runways and ultimately protect passengers, crew, and ground personnel.
