Airbus has announced a new collaboration with LanzaJet to explore the development of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility in Spain. The partnership aims to advance the availability of SAF in Europe, supporting the aviation sector's efforts to reduce carbon emissions in line with EU climate targets.

The proposed facility would utilize LanzaJet’s proprietary Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) technology, converting ethanol into SAF. This approach is designed to leverage existing feedstocks and infrastructure, potentially accelerating the scale-up of SAF production in the region.

Both companies have stated that the initiative is part of a broader commitment to decarbonize air transport and foster innovation in renewable energy solutions. The collaboration is expected to engage local stakeholders and contribute to Spain’s renewable energy objectives.
