Airbus and Air France-KLM have announced a new agreement to collaborate on the procurement and supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for flights departing from France and the Netherlands. The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of SAF in commercial aviation, supporting both companies’ commitments to reducing carbon emissions in line with European Union targets.

The agreement will facilitate joint sourcing of SAF from certified suppliers, ensuring traceability and compliance with international sustainability standards. By pooling their demand, Airbus and Air France-KLM expect to improve supply chain efficiency and encourage greater investment in SAF production capacity across Europe.

This initiative aligns with the European Commission’s ReFuelEU Aviation proposal, which seeks to increase the use of SAF in the aviation sector. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the industry’s broader efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
